General Information

The school pays one premium that covers all students while they are on school grounds, including lunch and recess periods and while traveling on group field trips sponsored by the school. New students are covered at no extra charge until the policy renewal date.

If a covered injury occurs, Student Accident Insurance:

  • provides coverage in excess of what the family's primary medical plan pays;
  • carries no deductible; and
  • provides both Accident Medical Expense coverage as well as Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage.

By providing this important excess coverage for all students, your school demonstrates its commitment to your students' safety as well as their academic progress. It assures parents in your care, and it may help cover gaps in your other insurance coverage.

Description of Coverages

Accidental Death pays the maximum benefit selected for loss of life resulting from a covered accident.

Accidental Dismemberment pays the maximum benefit selected for loss of both hands, both feet, or sight of both eyes; one hand and one foot; or hand or foot and sight of one eye. In addition, it pays:

  • 50% of the maximum benefit for loss of one hand, one foot or sight of one eye; and
  • 25% of the maximum benefit for loss of thumb and index finger of either hand.

The total dismemberment benefit for any one person for all losses due to the same accident will not be more than 100% of the benefit amount.

Accidental Medical Expense pays for necessary medical expenses incurred as the result of injuries sustained in a covered accident. This benefit is "excess coverage" and pays after the insured person has been reimbursed for medical expenses by other insurance programs.
